In this chapter , Kafai comprehensively have approached constructionism. She compare constructionism and
constructivism. Moreover she give samples about constructivism and told us that
could find more examples in Constructionism and Constructionism in Practise by
Papert and his group. Seymour Papert received two doctorates in mathematics ,
made famous Logo programming language. Papert improve a theory at learning
teaching and design . Kafai explained the reason for that constructionism don’t
resemble constructivism and describe the
historical roots of constructionism. Especially she mention that Logo included learning about students ‘ own thinking and learning , learning to
program, and learning mathematics and science. In constructionism ,
appropriation ad syntonic learning are important place. Besides these , she have talked about
positive effects and examles of application of microworlds and constructon kits
to learn in depth mathematics and science.
I would like to ask following questions :
1- ) How could
we expand using of constructionist learning approach in our country ?
2- ) I couldn’t
understand exactly how children could bring to bear their body knowledge on how
to move the screen turtle. Why the
circle is firmly related to children’ sense and knowledge about their own
bodies ?
