Constructionism


In this chapter , Kafai comprehensively  have approached constructionism.  She compare constructionism and constructivism. Moreover she give samples about constructivism and told us that could find more examples in Constructionism and Constructionism in Practise by Papert and his group. Seymour Papert received two doctorates in mathematics , made famous Logo programming language. Papert improve a theory at learning teaching and design . Kafai explained the reason for that constructionism don’t  resemble constructivism and describe the historical roots of constructionism. Especially she mention  that Logo included learning about students ‘   own thinking and learning , learning to program, and learning mathematics and science. In constructionism , appropriation ad syntonic learning are important place.  Besides these , she have talked about positive effects and examles of application of microworlds and constructon kits to learn in depth mathematics and science.
I would like to ask following questions :
1-    ) How could we expand using of constructionist learning approach in our country ?
2-    ) I couldn’t understand exactly how children could bring to bear their body knowledge on how to move the screen turtle.  Why the circle is firmly related to children’ sense and knowledge about their own bodies ?

Opinions about article "CONSTRUCTIONISM"


CONSTRUCTIONISM
Different kind of constructionism approach’ are investigated and their differences’ are clearly stated in this article. But in my opinion the most valuable property of this article is that defining the education as a multidisciplinary science and gives a lot of evidence about this. Of course that is not the main issue that mentioned in this article. Different kinds of experiments are being compared in this article. And that is also interesting that some products that are produced during these experiments, is very common but unconsciously in daily life.

Questions may discus;  

      1)      How can we transform or adapt  our traditional education approach to constructionist approach
      2)      How can we use other science of disciplines more efficiently.

This is an article about constructionism which means learning as building relationships between old and new knowledge, in interactions with other, while creating artifacts of social relevance. For Papert, working with computers which include some programmes -such as Logo or Basic- or construction kits, can express childrens’ own thinking. With software designs, their opportunities to develop a game or etc. improve their learnings and debug their misconceptionals.  Also they may share this designs each other and that apprenticeship provides cultural learning and precision approach to others.

Questions are;

According to the article, are teachers will be needed in the future or the desings will enough to learn?

Is it enough to socialize the program design and to share with others?

Constructionism

In this article, a colleague of Piaget’s constructivism is the founder of the concept in a different way Papert review is constructivism.Papert’s constructivist approach differs from the classical concept of constructivisim.This new free-from curriculum information without the student discovers that constructivism.Students should be supported in creating knowledge. To support the programming, logos and microworls are used.Students will experiment with using them and corrects errors.Problems faced by these experiments are used in everyday life.This new approach, the enviroment, technology and culture have examined the effects on learning.The historical development of this approach.According to Papert physical objects play an important  role in the construction of knowledge.Instead of questioning te culture of individuals’ learning of mathematics and science allows you to become part of the culture.So it is very important in this approach and cooperation whit the social environment.In the future researchers into their lives by learning how student’s social and emotional need to develop a better understanding of the need to conduct research about it.
Questions:
1. How do I implement the new issues of science understanding of constructivisim?
2.Why the need to make changes in the understanding of Papert heard of constructivism?

Constructionism means supporting children as they build their own intellectualstructures with
 materials drawn from thesurrounding culture. In this model educational intervention means changing
the culture planning new constructive elements in it and eleminating noxiusones.Constructionism sees techonologyas the driving force for how we teach and learn.Micro worlds and construction kitsapplication illustrate how the design of computer applications can be driven by constructionist theory The instructional software designed by students illustrated personal choices in representations that students created for their learners

Questions
1)How will microworlds develop later?
2)How will we decide to use logo microworlds?

Constructionism

   The aim of this chapter is to more clearly know the quality of the learning-teaching by improving the constructionism perspective. Realizing that the computer in schools is the first on territory of Seymour Papert. in the 1970s, Papert, began developing Piaget’s constructionism into  the psychology of education principles. Started a new period in education with the constructivist approach. Here are some opinions about the constructivist approach, this chapter; the old information for new construction of knowledge, and on the other hand is developing social commitment, individuals must create their own information, children perceive the world differently from adults, the process of configuring the physical objects, information plays a pivotal role in, is the design activities in a central location, allow the description of his personal ideas, combine the personal and social aspects of, combining cognitive and affective aspects of.

My questions are;
1)      There are problems in the constructionism approach, the transfer of value. How do we solve this problem?
2)      What exactly do you think schools should be made for the implementation of the constructivist approach?

According to Piaget, learning is the process of solving a problem. This is configured by the student problem-solving activities. Previously known as the knowledge and experiences encountered at the same time brought into line with the new information. We can say that the process of adaptation. Lego is one of the tools developed for the use of technology in education. Lego, especially in science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula emerges as an effective way to teaching the student gains.
My questions :
Microworlds and construction kits are most popular in education but are there any damages in science teaching?
When the game is selecting which feature of the student should be considered the most? Gender, culture, knowledge,or experience?

In this research included key aspects of how we can design constructionist learning environments, technologies,and activities that create supportive learning cultures. Microworlds and construction
kits illustrated that the design of learning technologies comes wrapped in a theory of mind coupled with disciplinary understanding. Constructionist theory challenges us to consider invidual over sociocultural aspects in the design and investigation of the learning sciences. 

 Questions: How can we use science teaching classes of constructionist approach?
                   How can we create science teaching of learning culture for students?

       In the article what is constructionism model the historical process of it,the learning enviroment and culture of technologies and how to develop activities are discussed.It was created by Papert.Constructionism is built on the model of  Piaget,but there are different aspects of this model.For example constructionism further differs from the Piagetian model in equally valuing the concrete and the abstract.The curiosity of students,co-operation,to support the reflections of all the process and in addition developments of microword and construction kits are mentioned.Constructionism can be defined as students discovery information themselves teaching without curriculum.It gives importance to the social dimension.


Questions:1-Do you think that can constructionism be used in education system?
                2-What are the benefits of microword and construction kits for the education system?
